2025-current | Transitional Learning Center Specialist, NCSD, OR
Special Education teacher in a 3-5th grade social emotional skills classroom. Trained in DBT and paid to develop visuals, art connection extensions and worksheets to supplement district endorsed curriculum to make concepts accessible to our students with disabilities. Developed Restorative Reintegration plans based in trauma informed practice to support students, teachers and classroom communities navigating repair of harm. Highly skilled in deescalation strategies and repair processes. Continuously adjusting teaching practices to meet diverse student needs, creates systems for home/school communication with daily trackers and monthly newsletters that include prompts for home to practice skills in that setting. Develops strategic, trauma informed IEPs with care and intention. Development of Art for Wellness curriculum to support students in developing coping skills and expression through art.
August 2024 | Artist Mentor with the P’5 Youth Artist Capital Program
One on One mentor to a youth artist as part of the Portland 5’s Department of Culture and Community grant. Worked one on one with mentee developing business systems, creating zines, supporting with design and technical aspects of printing, started a bookkeeping process for them and supported them in whatever they needed. Also led cohort wide connection activities and created online group spaces for all artist mentors to share their resources with mentees.

October-June: Designed an 18 week curriculum for 7/8th grade classes with a focus on student interests and choice, building community care and nurturing self worth and growth through art creating and academic discourse. Developed systems in alignment with IEPs & 504s for differentiated student assignments, engagement and equitable grading practices. Communicated with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and sent out regular newsletters to families with photos of student work and question prompts to continue art conversations at home.
